After further discussions with Shannon MFC hierarchy, we have decided to add a 2nd date for a glider guider’s gathering on Tountinna.
We plan to gather on Saturday 7th September, so you might please add this date to your calendar.
As usual, all GG’s and glider types welcome to attend.

Hi all,
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to postpone our Glider Guiders Gathering originally planned for the 8th June.
We will now have it one week later, on the Saturday,15th June.
Apologies for this change, hopefully we’ll still see the usual great gathering on the day.
Regards,
Gerry B

Sorry Ger, I'd hoped to get down this year but my health isn't too good and I haven't been travelling much this year. Hoping for an improvement soon and can get out and about again

Hi Bill, sorry to hear the health isn’t great with you, hope you get well soon.

Hi all,
Just a reminder, our 2nd Great Glider Guider’s Gathering of 2024 will take place next Saturday, 7th September on Tountinna. Flying all day, all glider types welcome.
MACI sponsored sammiches will be available to all attendees.
Please note, as the wind forecast is NE, it is recommended to have electric powered models with you, just in case the lift isn’t working for us.

Hi all, first of all, I must apologise Alan for not responding to your question on our glider gathering on 15th June. Between one thing and another, domestically and otherwise, I wasn’t keeping up with the glider Ireland website.
On the 15th, the weather was very wet in the morning and gliding finally got going around 1pm. 10 fliers took part and we had a most enjoyable afternoon flying on the NW slope. Can’t remember for sure if I have any photos, but if I do, I’ll post them here.
Today we had our 2nd gathering. Just 7 fliers attended. Wind was from the NE, but unfortunately we got almost no flying done as we were in low cloud conditions all day long. That doesn’t mean we didn’t have a great time though!! Lots of chat and banter. Nice food and a BBQ which was organised by Wally Fogarty.

Looking at next weekends forecast, the weather looks dry and light winds, so far. A lot can happen between now and then but so far it looks like thermal and lightweight models. Maybe even a few electrics.
I am booked in for the weekend. Who else is coming?
See you at the weekend.

good man Alan.

I have your mug, and paid your sub, no worries.
Ralph

Day one over. North easterly winds dominated our flying. Pilots coming from all over the country.
Peter was the first man up flying in a haze which did not really disappear completely at any point during the day.
Next up was Chris Teroni from Cork with his now vintage Turbo Espirit from Stan Yeo. Chris is new to our slopes but is making good progress with his new flying skills.
A total of 10 pilots attended with various models flown throughout the day from a PSS model of an Irish Air Corps Fouga magister to a model fashoined from a Lidl foam chuck glider.

Good weekend. Great to see everyone again.
Thanks for picking me up and making sure I was OK when I hit the deck :(
-
Yes great to see everyone and to get some gliding in. Thanks Ralph for coordinating.
