Is there a big bundle of other bits we should get in a group purchase for your design Fred? I'm wondering if we should put together a bill of materials for the plane and do a group purchase on all the materials we won't have lying around? I'm thinking mostly about covering tape and materials for wing joiners and spars.
Has anyone used laminating film/mylar instead of tape on covered EPP planes?

Do we go for a proto build first ?
I can do it quickly, just to make sure!

For the material list, good idea !
Spars are in 10m tube, inside, the wing joiner (8mm diam).
6mm tubes + inside for elevator and incidence pins
Snakes for the elevator + rudder (fuselage too wide for a push pull for the rudder)
Clevis etc...

For mine, I'll go for a Vinyl finish all over (this is not for combat!   ), but you can paint + reinforced tape, reinforced tape + vinyl etc etc of course.
Not too sure of the price of tape in B&Q and Homebase  :?:

A prototype build would be great if you're willing to do it! If it was me I'd probably take a couple of months and everyone would be getting impatient.  :?:

I've never used vinyl. Maybe that's worth a try. Where do you get it and how's it applied?

Hi Aidan,

Ok, if everybody agree, I can do the proto.
Give me less than a week for have it done once I have all the parts.

For the vinyl, in Ireland, contact Anthony (error 404 on the forum) and take the thin one, works great!

Application, it's self adhesive of course, so, slowly, with a touch of 3M77 on the EPP first for it to adhere even more.
You can work the curves with a heat gun (careful!) or a hair dryer.

Sorry, a bit silent these days, as some work is being done in my house, so Internet connection is more or less up and down all the time !

Anyway, was looking for a loosy excuse for not having done the glider, but the truth is... I forgot !  :oops:
Completely went out of my mind, and no forum's visit to remind me !

Joe, are you around for the file and the cutting ?  :?:
And I'll send that to you straight away, and kick the build as soon as I have the stuff.

But busy in the workshop working on my next glider for Retroplane, and finally started up the queue of gliders I have in the workbench!

Just back home, and received a signed script of the Simpson by the entire cast and prod!  :shock:  

My internet should be OK for the week end now (back to vegetative state   ). And hope to have a bit of flying! Have a new 2.4ghz system to test    (slowwwly moving into the XXIst century! )

Just emailed a company to order some foam. Should have enough for 3 (4 if i don't mess up) 1.8 minitoons. Am keeping it basic. Have all the files for the minitoon so will go with that and 1.8 suits the foam block sizes. If they work out well then we can order some more foam start messing about!

Have been busy lately with other things so have done nothing model related. I'll get this done asap. Sorry keith I did promise you a minitoons a long time ago.
