Connecting wing servos en-mass

Not so much a problem as an annoyance, every time I take my Phase 6 to the slope and assemble the wings to the fus. I have to connect four separate servo cables. 2 for the ailerons and 2 for the flaps.

On more than one occasion I’ve fitted the wing only to find one (or more) of the servos has been connected up wrongly, EEERrrrrrrr. :evil:

Where can I get a single connector that would enable me to connect all the wing servos at once and be sure they are all connected correctly? :?

Hi Keith,

I am using these http://brchobbies.com/?page=shop&action=additem&item=1032
for my Spirit.

In theory you may fit four servos into one 6pin connector.

Hi Keith,

You can also use DB9 plugs (for computers), easier to solder IMO, but much bigger!

What does IMO stand for, :!:  and where could I get a DB9 plug? :?:

Hi Honey,

In My Opinion (sorry  :oops: )

DB9, at Maplin, Peats etc etc. I use that as this is easier to solder for me (and my poor skills!), and the other advantage, is that you have enough room to double / triple the contacts, or even use a bigger plug, like the DB12, but that's really for big models, a bit OTT (Over The Top  :P ) for a small ish glider.
You can have DB9 with gold contacts too, but the MPX (Multiplex  :P ) green plugs are fine too, just a question of taste (and soldering habilities in my case!)

Thanks Fred, I ‘take on board’ what you say about a larger connector being easier to work with.

The total space that the connector, (that is both halves of the connector joined) would have to sit in is 35mm x 40mm. Would a DB9 if in that little amount of space?

Hhmmm…..Just as a foot note, One 9 pin DB9 plug & socket from Maplin cost £2.49. Then they want to charge me £8.75 to despatch the darn thing!!! So the total cost would be £11.41 for something worth £2.49. :evil:

Does anyone on this forum regularly order stuff from Maplin?

Maplin? I'd rather burn notes out in the street.

Try Farnell.ie, I can't get it quite right but some things are shipped for free some don't.
I also use futurlec.com, it's a excellent shop with a fixed rate of shipping, it would be $5 for that part and the part woudl cost $0.50. But it's from Singapore so if time is a problem forget it as it takes some weeks.
I placed an order some days ago if I had seen this then I'd gladly get that for you. :(

Np, I'm glad I could be of help.
Their service is quite nice, you should receive an email with a postal tracking code, they do it for every single order.

Keep that in mind I may make you stick to your promise. :)
