Hi Nando, now you have the Fox get flying and have fun.
The pictures of the coastal area we fly is called Downhill beach on the North Coast, 5 minutes from the beach is the mountain which is also a brilliant place to slope (west, north and south slopes). We also fly at Slieve Galllion which is about 25 minutes drive for me , best slopes and no walking or hikes.
With help from Bill and John we intend to arrange a day or two flying so our friends from Glider Ireland can come visit us.
If you or anyone else wants to visit and fly up North I will be more than happy to meet you and show you around.
Andrew was on the North Coast yesterday and has been making me very jealous lol. I had my house work to do  :!:   if the cloud base lifts today I just might escape to the mountain.

Great to hear we have interest in flying up North, now to secure a date !
Keith , as for house work,  all I do is move the planes from one room to the next one lol . I have 9 indoor planes in my bedroom and the Blasters and other gliders get the comfort of the living room, The park flyers are in the kids room, I removed  them at the weekends when the children visit, my bigger planes are in the workshop at dads house and my best planes are in my dads spare room lol.
Dusting can be a pain !

Fying off Moneymore
« Reply #53 on: August 14, 2010, 21:30:40 PM »
Hi guys

Well, we had Ed up north today flying off Moneymore mountain. The wind was not great and Richard and myself found it hard going, keeping the vectors flying in the low lift, however Ed had no problems at all with his F3F model and a super carbon glider, 'sorry Ed I have forgotten the name!'. Today we had a selection of para gliders flying off the same slope, funny, even with the whole slope to fly off, and an agreement between us and them to fly in our own airspace, we had to land a few times due to our fellow gilding neighbours flying low over us. Overall we had a great day, and I think Ed will be back, looking at the smile on his face.

Ed in flying mode!

Another good landing Ed

Richard & Ed enjoying the flying

Richard's vector 3 coming in on a low high speed pass!

Thanks lads, It was a good days flying.

Sorry I couldn't make it out guys. My back is really playing up at the minute and the thought of an hour in the car and then bouncing round a hill wasn't the nicest

Glad you enjoyed our little hill Ed and hopefully next year we'll try and run a couple of events on it  :?:

John and Richard,
Big thanks guy`s for a craicen afternoon on Moneymore, what a spot you have there Lads. Great to have a hill that pretty much covers most wind directions, very handy indeed. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best but it wasn't long for me to appreciate what these slopes are capable of producing lift wise even on an average day. Very impressed all the same. Even in the light conditions there was some great lift/thermals and plenty of craic from the boy`s. Out of the two mouldies I brought the Pace VXH was the one that was preforming the best, strange as it was designed primarily as a DSing ship! At one stage though the wind came in and all three of us had about 5 mins of some great flying, lots of magic moudie whistle and big smiles followed fairly quickly:D Good to see the Vectors in their element.  Sorry Bill you couldn't make it on Saturday, real shame but hope you get that back mended in time for the next Slope session.
I had such a great time on Saturday fellas thanks again for looking after me so well, it wont be long before im back for more Nordie Slope Soaring thats for sure.

All I can say is a big thanks to ED for traveling up to Slieve Gallion. I really enjoyed the days crack and well Eds planes were awesome in the very light winds.
Thanks also for the tips and mixes Ed, I have them set in the Vector and the ballast is making her dance in the skys over Moneymore
I gave her a wee knock on Wednesday but she is repaired and ready to rock n roll again.

May the North winds blow !

New sloping sites on the Sperrins
« Reply #58 on: August 23, 2010, 08:04:04 AM »
On Saturday both John and myself headed up to Slieve Gallion and to our surprise winds were hitting from the South and this left us with very little lift on the south easterly slope. We did manage a few flights but it was very hard work.
Yesterday (Sunday) I ended up free for the day so I went in search of a Southerly slope on the Sperrins. Here are a few pics of slopes I found with very easy excess ! for us old folk lol.
As you will see winds were very light but I still managed to have a few flights.

The Sperrins really are a place of outstanding beauty.
I was in my bed at 7.30 pm completely wrecked after the evening on the mountains.
