Cabin fever anyone ?

Good to hear of all the flying activity. I got an hours flight yesterday with Jim at Kilakee - nice light breeze from the lake so oblique to the main slope but that suited us as the sun was low to the left.  I was flying the Eliminator, Jim his Osprey.  Floating weather.  Pretty cold but certainly not as much snow as Bill.  Too bad Alan - the good thing about wood models is that they are easily repaired.  Hope you get well soon Fred.

Looks like everyone is coming out of hibernation. Almost made it out on friday I think it was but had a sick little girl at home. Will have to wait until spring has sprung!

I'm sure you'll be back in the air soon Alan. Turbulence can be tricky especially with only a rudder and elevator.

Impressed with your commitment lads. That looks blood cold up north!

It felt like it Alan. Although once you got moving it wasn't bad. Wind chill was pretty bad on the hands. Wind meter was showing 12 -15mph which gives a windchill temp of -4C. Glad I had fishing gloves    John was flying in his bare hands and still doing 15 min flights :shock:

Sorry for the off topic, the murder they are talking about on TV these days, if I'm right, this is behind the car park where we are flying right ?? Saw the images on TV, and all the garda cars where parked on the slope...
Scary anyway that we flew there for a year with a dead body a few meters away !! :shock:

Sound like it, on the other side of the road where the car park is.
Well, that's what they showed on RTE the other night.

But they also showed another area, on the big turn when you go to Glencree, after the long stretch of road after the car park... There is usually lots of cars with trailers with dogs here every week end...

AAAAaaaaahhhh Flew again in Kilakee last Saturday  
Low wind conditions and small thermal activity, and a good 40 minutes flight with the good old Algebra.
Followed by a fight down the valley to get some altitude after everything that marginaly kept me up in the air stopped!... Mountain wins, Fred lose !
And a 30 minutes walk for me  
And a great day !  

Happy to been out before the snow covered the mountain again in the evening !

I was out yesterday on the north slope of Big L. Fair wind but not a lot of lift…….wind was a little too much from the East. I remembered what you taught me in light lift conditions, “Keep the wings level in the turns.” I could also hear Joe calling in my ear, “RUDDER,…. more RUDDER!”

When are the big lift conditions going to return so I can 'Bank and Yank' my way around the sky :!:

In light conditions, the rudder is king !
