NIMSA Thermal events

First of our 2 extra thermal events was done today. Great weather and a reasonable turnout. Lift was fickle making finding & staying with it very difficult. We also used the clubs new Height Limiters for the first time today. They certainly balanced out any power advantages and made for more of a soaring competition

Open Thermal was won by Paul Freeman and Sam Phenix won the electric

Bill. I have taken my Easy Glider out to Brinny a few mornings lately with Ralph. The cold weather incentivises foam and electric I think! I can get a good forty minutes out of a 3S 2200mAh battery with power to spare but with multiple climbs needed. She isn't the best floater in still winter air (or maybe its the pilot!). Ralph's Radian does better I think. Fred gave me a 2S pack which I must try out to see if the reduction in weight helps. What do you guys typically fly? I presume a good mix of model types? I would be interested in something electric that performs better, preferably not foam....
Happy New Year by the way.
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
We're flying everything from 4m fully moulded (expensive) down to electric versions of the 2m RES models a la Ralphs PuRES. Still a few Radians around which bang for the buck are hard to beat. There's a few Hoellein Insides (full house, 6 servo wing) and a couple of folks now getting the Introduction which is the RES version of the Inside. Comes in around 170 Euro. The 2m RES are nice models to fly
