Love them !  :D
SHame that I have to cover everything at the end !

One day, do a glider like that, and cover half of it in transparent to show to people how it's made   :?:

Thats a good Idea. You can show everyone that gilders are strong even thought they are mostly made of empty space  :P .

Alright, still moving !

Fuselage sheeting is started and should be completed soon  :D
For once, I started with the tail, as the same time I've installed the controls linkage etc etc.

But first, started with the sheeting of the fixed part of the rudder, sheeted with 0.4mm plywood.

The last section of the fuselage is sheeted with 0.8mm plywood, and rough holes are made for the cables to go out.

Then, a coat of colored varnish on the rudder, and ready for covering !

And finally, the push/pull cables are in place, and the rudder is linked. It's alive !  :D

I will cover the exit holes for the cables with a piece of plywood, to make is smooth at the end.

And a general view...

Sheeting on the way !  :D

Ok, a bit of updates on that one !
All is going well, and that should be finished soon !

I finally started to remove the building jig in the front to put in place the keel.

The elevator is also in place, and the mounting plates with blind nuts are glued in place.
Linkage is also done, and everything is hidden inside the fuselage  :D

Lots of epoxy, sorry, did a pig job on that one !
Bolts are 4mm diameter.

The elevator linkage is made with F3A type control horn. Great for the job !
It is directly screwed on the elevator, between 2 plywood re-inforcements. Was not too sure about this system, but that is strong at the end !  :D

And the "L" bent rod at the end. Easy to slide the control horn in it, and don't move once in place !

And that's it for now.. Fuselage is almost finished and completely sheeted in plywood...
I will soon start the wing sheeting and we will be ready for the first flight  :D

Sheeting well on the way !  :D
Fuselage will be completed soon, and I can then do the sheeting on the wings.

At this stage, all the servos are in place and connected, ready to go !

hey fred,

some time back, i think at the big l fly-in in april (?), we spoke about the grunau baby kit.  you mentioned you were thinking of using a different wing section for slope soaring.  just wondering if there was news on that front?  a friend of mine (no, not keith!) is interested in the kit but is waiting for news on the wing section.

regards, gb

Hey Ger,

Yep, some news :)

Almost finished the updated drawings, with a much more scale build. The 1/3 scale version is on its foot steps too.
The new profile is a HQ. Expect the first cut to be done sometimes in October (very busy month this month!)
I'll keep you updated of course  :D

At 1/3 Scale that should give it a wingspan of about 4.52m. Is that right Fred?
