New machines in the hangar... What are yours?
« on: February 04, 2022, 20:11:18 PM »
Alright, it has been a while!

So, what's new in your workshop for the 2022 season?
On my side, last year (October)  got 2 new machines. a 1/2.5 Phoebus (5.5m) and a 1/2.5 SHK (5.8m). First flights for both were done at the Caen Modele Club, towed by Ronan, and both went flawlessly.
The SHK is around 15 Kg, and is flying on rails. Original looking machine that change from the usual modern gliders, and to some extend, the Phoebus in itself is also pretty rare!
The Phoebus is around 12Kgs or so, and is fully scale with all the bells and whistle. Canopy opening is also remote locked (weird, not too sure of the point, but that's 2 servos just for that  ;) ) At this weight, it's a proper thermal machine, and a real pleasure to fly I have to say. And the look!!

More reasonable machines coming in a couple of month, it's a disease I tell you!
Education is important, but flying RC planes and gliders is importanter!

A little peek of one refurb in the workshop at the moment.
Spots or no Spots?

Have a backlog but no enthusiasm at the moment Fred. 20cc Seagull Decathalon sitting in the shed for 15months still to assemble plus a PuRES from Hollein. Also need to repair by mini-Pike after a vertical landing that Elon Musk would have been proud of !!!!!!

Noel's old Mibo Swift refurbed over the winter plus picked up the smaller Graupner Swift via Ralph on e-bay which needs to fly.

Birthday looming and considering an electric Odyssey from art-Hobby to fly on the dunes a few miles form home. That will keep me out of trouble for a good while.

This is a RS-aero Rock'X nearing completion.  In the more reasonable machines category! Fine models Fred.

Fred, I would look at the Slite, it is beautiful and Peter has also built it.

Rock'X also came from Zeller.  See https://zeller-modellbau.com/zeller-modellbau-flugmodelle/rock-x-kit-2020-mm-rs-aero/

It's more of a slope machine than F3RES - probably 2-300 g heavier than the Slite. Interesting construction - uses quite a bit of very thin ply sheeting on the wing and tailplane.

The Slite V2 - best kit I have seen yet.
