MACI Aerotow?
« on: September 10, 2008, 13:09:40 PM »
I got the hint from Ralpf and Joe that more gliding events at tounntine would be nice, ie between now and xmas. That got me thinking.

I see from the 2008 MACI Calendar of events that aerotow is not featured. Why?.... and Why the hell not. So if the interest is there in this I will put the idea to our fearless leader at the Carron Model Flying Club to host such an event. For 2009... some time??

We have two tugs available... 1/3 scale cub.. 12ft span.. Amazing model. I have put my 3.2m Pik20d up behind this. And our recently aquired Giant Stik by Great planes.. 40cc petrol. This thing has the power to tow a car up. One of the clubs 4m fox (of which there are 3) recently went up behind this one. I hope to do the same myself some day soon with my own fox. I am slowly working up the courage to do so.

Anyway this post is just mooting the idea, to guage the interest.

Cheers

Well for starters, pick a date and stick to it. Offer bribes to entrants, such as freshly baked muffins and bakewell. Go to MACI Jan 2009 meeting and place date on calender.
Avoid if possible, indoor, gliding and control line events ( that covers me).
Hope that is of some help.

Same as Ralph, but I will add "advertise the event!" as much as possible !

Did not went to the last aerotow one only because of the lack of information  :(
You can't really expect people to drive a few hours in the unknown.
Saying that, I would drive a few hours for some good hot cakes !  :D  :P  :P
