It's getting crowded on Big L.

So Big  Keith and myself were flying our combat wings together on Big L today and suddenly we were accosted by a man who said he wanted to have a go at gliding aero models.

So we let him have a go, fully expecting him to crash and have a long walk to collect the model,……but he didn’t! :shock:  :shock:  In fact he flew rather well for a first timer. 8)

So the man in question is Patrick O’Brien. (Pat) He  was so in enthralled with the experience that when he got home he phoned me to say that he’s ordered a Zagi plus all the radio gear! (Is this guy serious or what!!! :D )(We like " serious flyers" on this forum :P  )

So we now have yet another Big L local flyer to join our merry crew.
(I can remember a time when I would be the only person flying off the Big L apart from at glide-in’s. At this rate it’s gonna start getting crowded up there.)

So welcome to the party, Pat……Log into the forum and say ‘hello’.

Qnswer: A flying wing. Made of plastic foam with a couple of servos, battery and a rx you chuck it off the slope and it flys!  :D …………….Er, sorry about that Selleri, :oops: ……….I couldn’t resist it!!! :lol:

It’s a Skua from a company in Oz called Wowings.

I’ve found that combat wings are the best things for newbie’s to have a go at flying because of their resilience to damage. So whenever someone new asks to ‘have a go’ I let them use my Skua. (I dial in lots of expo on the elevator control to make it less sensitive in pitch. :wink: )

Ever done any combat flying Selleri?

Only with indoor depron planes!  :twisted:

Flew my mates wing when it was operational, just flat field flying at the time. When Clint Eastwood came over here to shot Flag of our Fathers few of the SFX guys were modellers and brought wings with them. My mate bought his from them, even had the right colour scheme!  ;)

I've got this one coming soon, same as the Scout Bee from Windrider.

Hmmmm, pure glider to begin with but if I want to do some of the sea side cliffs I'd better get a motor, it's a bit wet down there you see...     :oops:

The experts say I flew too far out...  I might have to agree with them.   :oops:

Plus lack of experience kept me from flying it closer to the cliff on the way down.
