Retroplane... In Ireland !

Hi there,

1 or 2 years ago, we were talking, as a joke, to do the Retroplane meeting in Ireland (being French, living in Ireland, I was teasing a lot about the pubs and the smooth slopes we have around here !  )...
Well, we did not left the idea aside, and finally after checking the feasability, Retroplane 2009 will be held for the first time abroad, and that will be in Ireland.

That give us almost 2 years to get prepared and build a Vintage glider.

So far, only four from Ireland....

Hmmmm...  Maybe I should l get one of your Opel Rak kits...  It's a gorgeous plane in the air, I really enjoyed watching it at Mweelin.

The other vintage planes I rather like is of course the old evergreen Minimoa, and the other one is that French plane that I forgot the name of now- it's got a big bubble canopy and a vee tail (one of the Bréguet models).

Never done scale before, but this Retroplane thing seems something special!

I've just spied a 169" 1/4 scale Minimoa plan for sale on the BMFA site - tempted...........

If you get one of Freds CNC Scale kits it should not take that long to build.

Well lets see then...
There's 730 days in 2 years, and if I'm awake for 16 hours a day that's 11,680 hours.
Counting eating and 'other' activities as say 5 minutes an hour, and allowing time for doing up old wooden boat, practising the Tenor Sax, sailing old wooden boat, doing web sites for people, playing Badminton, gardening, taking the dog for walks, playing the tin whistle, painting pictures that no-one would ever buy, photography, sorting out neighbour's plumbing, Christmas and new year festivities, visiting elderly relatives, etc. etc. that should leave about 2 seconds per hour free.
So that would make 6.48 hours.
Bit of a tight schedule.

Really interested in this Retroplane thing though.

Cvanscho - that Breguet is the Breguet 901 Choucas.  I seem to remember plans were available either in Traplet or Argus mags - RCM&E or Radio Modeller some years ago.. :?

If that the Breguet with the V tail, I think you are talking about the Fauvette (905 if I remember... :?: ).

Chris, I have a dxf plan for that one... Simplifiied, but that is a really good base to start something really decent.

Was just looking at the Retroplane 2009 site. There is a guy going to be coming from Australia  :shock:  :shock:. Its an intercontinental meeting now   .
